The Goal

With so many social media platforms, some may ask, “Why create yet another page dedicated to Christians and the Bible?” I’m glad you asked! For forty of my fifty-six years, I have sought to follow God and study His Word. The Bible is the foundation of my life and the filter through which I examine everything. As 1 John 4:1 (ESV) instructs us, we must “test the spirits to see whether they are from God.” My desire for Beyond the Pulpit is to educate, equip, and encourage those seeking to know the true God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit as revealed in Scripture. We will examine the Bible and challenge the folklore, traditions, denominational divisions, and assumptions that have crept into the North American church—not to criticize, but to distinguish what Scripture actually teaches from what we may have simply accepted as truth.

I am a child of the living God, a husband of thirty years, a father, an ordained minister, and an American. My identity begins with God, who loved me enough to send His Son to reconcile me to Himself. Jesus willingly laid down His life to pay the penalty for my sin, and through the work of the Holy Spirit, I was drawn to God. Because of His grace, I am free, and through Jesus Christ, you can experience that same freedom. My prayer is that this page will help us grow in our understanding of God’s Word and become more like Christ. Our guiding question will be “What Does the Bible Say?”—not simply what tradition teaches, what our denomination believes, or what culture tells us. I invite you to join the conversation, ask questions, share your thoughts, and pursue biblical truth with an open Bible and a willing heart. Let’s go Beyond the Pulpit and discover how God’s Word transforms our lives.
